In 2014 the School of Environmental and Life Sciences first offered the Associate of Science in Environmental Studies, a programme owned by the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica. The college gave the School of Mathematics a mandate to create an Associate of Science in Mathematics and Finance, and the programme was first offered in September 2015. The total number of students from both programmes was low and in 2016, the college converted the Schools of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Environmental and Life Sciences to departments.
This forms the birth of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – STEM under the faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, as a conglomerate of the Departments of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Environmental and Life Sciences.
